Kwame Owusu Kwateng (PhD) is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Supply Chain and Information Systems at the School of Business, KNUST, Kumasi. Kwame exhibits expertise and expresses research interests in these areas: Information Systems, Supply Chain Management, and Entrepreneurship. Kwame, as an academic and scholar, has over a decade of teaching experience in the university, coupled with a rich research background. He has published over 26 articles in reputable peer-reviewed international journals. In 2018, he received the Emerald Literati Award for Highly Recommended Paper. Currently, he is the head of the Information Systems Section and also a Research Faculty at the Center for Applied Research and Innovation in Supply Chain- Africa (CARISCA).
Kwame was a member of the team that secured a grant from the World Bank to set up the Regional Transport Research and Education Centre, Kumasi (TRECK), an African Centre of Excellence at KNUST. He serves as an ad hoc reviewer of several peer-review journals. Kwame has also participated in a project which sought to conduct a Business Survey in selected cities and towns in Ghana with sponsorship from International Organization for Migration (IOM). He was a Resource Person for the Training of Young Entrepreneurs and Managers of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SME’s) on Entrepreneurship, Business Concept Development, and Business Plan Proposal, from which he had the opportunity to review about five hundred (500) Business Concepts and Business Plans. The programme was under the auspices of Technoserve Ghana.
Again, Kwame was a Resource Person and Panel Member for the training and selection of Interim Executives of the one district one factory (1D1F) ENABLE Youth programme under the auspices of the Youth Enterprise Programme (YEP) and Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI). He served as the liaison officer for Manhyia Palace on the Kumasi Job Fair committee organized by the Ghanaian-German Center for Jobs, Migration, and Reintegration (GGC) in collaboration with Manhyia palace.
Kwame has trained postgraduate and undergraduate students, mostly at the local level. He is a member of the African Academy of Management, Institute of ICT Professionals, Ghana, and a Chartered Member of the Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT). He is currently mentoring some new faculty members.
